Coverage
The philosophy of your instructor is fairly traditional among
biology professors in colleges of arts and sciences. It is important
to establish a solid foundation whether or not this is your only
biology course. You will be better prepared for upper division
courses with the breadth of material covered in the chosen text
book. Although many students enrolled in this entry level course
are presently planning careers in the health professions, most
biology professors, yours included, consider it unacceptable to
compromise your science education by offering you a strictly pre-med
course. Thus, even though there will be expanded coverage of cell
biology, all material in Campbell et al.'s Chapters 1-27 will
be introduced: see description of the course published in Saint
Louis University's undergraduate Catalog 1999-2001
